One of my co-workers, Becka, gave me a handmade bunny pouch as a going away present on Friday. It is so sweet:

I’m going to miss the Textile Center, though I hope to volunteer there in the future.

Monday I start the internship at Speaking of Faith. Wish me luck!

My good friend Liza’s getting married next month to a great guy, Enrique. So of course I wish them the best. And in this case, “the best” is a tea towel embroidered with a vintage anthropomorphic vegetable motif. The corn, eggplant, radish, and celery (or is that bok choy?) are having a friendly game of tug of war:

My sister says the eggplant/corn team is sure to win, based on the eggplant’s girth. But I say watch out for the radish. She has a lot of pep!

Busy weekend. Lots of work on Saturday.

Sunday was Father’s Day and the whole gang came over to my place (mom, dad, Michelle, Link, and uncle Dick) for potluck with a yummy Culver’s cake for dessert.

Then it was off to the Stone Arch Festival in Minneapolis to work the Textile Center tent for a little bit. Michelle and Link came by on a walk and tried their hands at weaving:

I was shopping Etsy as I sometimes do, and came across:

Isn’t it great? And turns out it was made by a coworker of mine. Who woulda thunk it?

Gratuitous plug: If you’re shopping for bags, aprons, cuffs and other miscellaneous handmade textile stuff give Becka a try at beckarahn.etsy.com. End Gratuitous plug.

[Note: I am posting this in March 2010, but in the chronology of my life, it goes here.]

From 2003– May of 2005 I worked on a quilt as a present for my friend Gayle for her wedding. Here it is:

There are nine blocks containing floral wreaths, eight from Karen Kay Buckley‘s Floral Wreaths and one, the Roses and Rosebuds block, created by myself with roses adapted from Elly Sienkiewicz‘s Dimensional Appliqué, Baskets, Blooms, and Baltimore Borders:

Roses and Rosebuds

Tulips and Thistle

Pansies and Forget-Me-Nots

Dogwood and Squill Flowers

Grapes and Violets

Marigolds, Blueberries, and Honeysuckle

Clematis and Bluebells

Orchids

Peonies

The quilted motifs are adapted from Elsie M. Campbell‘s book Winning Stitches:

Finally done:

Special thanks to Mary for helping me with the basting, Diane for keeping my
ambitious plans grounded enough to be realistic, Beverly for doing the binding, my mom Gen for helping me wash the quilt and lay it out to dry, and my sister Michelle for the photos.
